At Infoware Services, workplace safety and employee wellbeing sit at the heart of how we operate. For over 20 years, our entire company has taken part in regular First Aid training every three years, ensuring our skills stay current and our team is ready to respond if an emergency occurs in the office, on-site, or in the community.
This year, we completed our latest First Aid training with Australia Wide First Aid, undertaking the nationally recognised HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) courses.
What We Covered
The HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course is the minimum standard for workplace First Aiders in Australia and is designed to equip people with the skills to recognise, respond to, and manage a wide range of injuries and medical emergencies until professional help arrives. Combined with HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, our team refreshed and extended their ability to respond confidently in a critical situation.
Across the training, our staff practised how to:
- Recognise and assess an emergency situation using the DRSABCD action plan.
- Perform CPR on adults, children, and infants in line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines.
- Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively.
- Manage bleeding, burns, fractures, sprains, and soft tissue injuries.
- Use bandages and slings to treat sprains, strains and snake bite injuries.
- Respond to asthma, anaphylaxis, heart attack, seizures, heat stroke and other medical conditions.
- Apply infection control principles while administering first aid such as considering the risk of infection when using an EpiPen through clothing.
The training combined theory with hands-on practice, including scenario-based exercises where our team had to assess a scene, coordinate a response, and deliver appropriate first aid under time pressure. This practical focus helped build both technical skills and confidence.
Why First Aid Training Matters for Businesses
First Aid training is much more than a compliance box to tick; it is a key part of creating a safe, resilient workplace culture. Immediate, informed action in the first few minutes of an incident can significantly reduce the severity of injuries, improve recovery outcomes, and in some cases save lives.
Some of the key benefits of regular First Aid and CPR training for organisations include:
- Faster on-site response before emergency services arrive.
- Reduced impact and downtime from workplace incidents.
- Greater awareness of hazards and proactive risk reduction.
- Higher employee confidence to stay calm and act under pressure.
These skills are not limited to work hours; they empower people to assist family, friends, and members of the public if something goes wrong in everyday life.
Our Long-Term Commitment to First Aid
Infoware Services has maintained a company wide First Aid training program for more than two decades, with all employees attending refresher training every three years to stay aligned with current guidelines and best practice. This long-term investment ensures that First Aid capability is embedded across our teams, not just by designated First Aiders.
Completing our training this year reinforced our commitment to:
- Keeping our workplace safe and compliant.
- Supporting our people with practical life skills.
- Building a culture where everyone takes responsibility for safety and wellbeing.
At Infoware Services, investing in First Aid training is one of the ways we invest in our people—helping them feel prepared, empowered, and ready to make a difference when it matters most.
